Murano Glass was produced near Venice in Italy and production began in 1921, the artists who created these items were renowned for their skills in glass design and the brand became most popular in 1950s-1960s. Due to their prevalence in Murano island, they then became available throughout Italy and now the world.
Loetz Glass was founded in 1936 in Klostermuhle in South Bohemia, the first glass products manufactured built up an excitement due to their innovative creation. Some of their marbled ‘marmorisierte’ glass items became very successful and were used in exhibitions throughout Brussels, Munich, Vienna and Paris. Loetz Glass Works cloased down in 1947 due to bankruptcy.
Monart Glass was established in 1922 and was made at Moncrieff glassworks in Scotland by Salvador Ysart, a Spanish glassworker. It became a great success in the 1930s and became Scotland’s answer to the French art glass movement. The firm stopped production in 1961 due to the changing fashion tastes making it more difficult to obtain the bold pre-war colours.
