The History of County Homes Antiques

Established in 1985 as a Christie family business, by now retired Pearl Christie SRN.  Now reopened, run by Andrew Christie formally of Andrew Christie Fine Arts Auctioneers Scotland, Ladybank Auction rooms Fife, Robert Dowie Fine Arts Auctioneers & Valuers Fife Scotland. As well as running these three busy auction rooms, to include quarterly catalogued fine arts auctions, he never left his roots as a established fine cabinet and chair-makers, antique restorers. Still continuing to employ his four apprentices to become fine period chair makers themselves. Andrew, commissioned by many prominent clients in Scotland including the Royal Architects, Edinburgh Herriot row merchant bankers, stately homes etc. Andrew specialised in 18th century re creations, copies, repairs & restorations.  A few of his historic creations, have been recorded with images along with a few pieces he still has that he couldn't bring himself to ever sell. Over the next while we will endeavour to make some of his works available for view within this site, along with the related stories of how and why, some tips tricks and some insight into 18th century techniques of the formal chairmakers of the time. Andrew now after returning from some later years in America where he held auctions and shipped containers of antiques from Scotland all over the USA. Now returned home to roost, to put all his 40yrs antiques experience into country homes antiques, he will be available through and or Country Homes Antiques Ben View garden centre for anything antique furniture related. Although an obvious passion for real furniture, his many years as a leading provincial fine arts auctioneers of three auction houses is well reflected in the diversity of stock now carried at country homes antiques, with fine paintings, rare ceramics, fine clocks, fine books and many quirky hard to find items to allure the most discerning collector and lover of fine Objects de Art.
