A Chinese Chippendale inspired Dining Suite
Once made never forgotten. I would love to know where this suite we made some 25 years ago is now. If by chance anyone knows who has it, please put them in touch with us. The suite comprised of a set of eight diners including 2 carvers. and a double canted boxed frame table with extra leaf. Japanned with shellac and decorated with 24ct gold leaf.
Simulated Bamboo constructed of beech wood. Made to last 100s of years.
This chair pattern is from the mid 18th century (Chinese Chinoiserie) And for me, it has eternal design quality. A very difficult chair to make with, I seem to remember 115 hand honed joints to construct a carver chair. I put much thought into making these fine but very strong chair frames. To become as near everlasting as the period originals of the 1750s
