SOLD Eugene Petit Still life Oil on Board.

A superb painting by Eugene Petit renowned for his flowers paintings. (1839-1886)

Condition; Very good

Size; 24x19cm.

Eugene Petit was born in Paris in 1839.^[1] He briefly taught the American painter Henry Woodbridge Parton, ca. 1875.^[3]

He specialized in still life paintings of flowers and fruits, as well as sporting dogs.^[1] His work has been found in museums in Carcassonne, Compiègne, Courtrai, Rouen and Saint-Etienne in France as well as The Sladmore Gallery in London.^[1]^[2] Some of his work has been auctioned at Bonhams.^[5]^[6] One of his hunting scenes, “On the Scent, Setters” sold at Sotheby’s in New York for $13,200 in 2006.^[7]
