Fine ANTIQUE ADMIRAL FITZROY BAROMETER c. 1870
A mid-Victorian Admiral Fitzroy barometer in a magnificently exotic and extremely rare walnut case.
The barometer has all its original printed dials, scales and instructions for the syphon tube, storm glass and thermometer as well as a check valve on the back of the syphon tube for portability.
The case has a concave moulded drop finial to the base and an ogee shaped cresting, moulded and open fretted with carved scroll and foliate decoration.
Height; 4ft 7ins ( 140cm ).
This domestic barometer is a ‘ top-of-the-range ‘ example from the period in fine condition complete with vernier adjustment pointers to record rising and falling in atmospheric pressure.
